"DATE: 03-01-08 Appearance: Deep maple brown/gold.
Nose: Intense maple syrup (early run) with some spices showing on the second pass, and sherry overtones.
Palate: Sweet with moderate acidity, heavyweight. Huge maple sugar flavours, cream, white chocolate, spices and herbal tones dance across your palate. Rich mouthfeel, big in every way, balanced though. Very long clean finish.
Conclusions: Almost like eating maple candy out of a glass, this could last many years (15?) in a good cellar, and could almost be thought of as a junior maple port. Well worth the price if you like the taste of prime syrup. Elegant and big, and not too many wines are both. Very high quality indeed. Tasted with other writers who were suggesting this as a great sweet sherry (they are right)/" lfw
FROM THE PRODUCERS:"A rich full bodied fortified dessert wine made from 100% Ontario maple syrup. Smooth maple flavours greet your palate then settle leaving you with fond memories of the sugar bush. Excellent as a light dessert on its own or served with pecan or pumpkin pie and white chocolate."
